Last week, Katelyn wrote to GringoMundo:
Hi, my name is Katelyn. My Mom, Dad, and I visited Puerto Rico in
May. It was so hot but we survived.!!!!!!. On the second day of
our vacation my mom, sister and I went on a shopping spree while my dad
and brother-in-law went fishing in the Atlantic Ocean for tuna.
Unfortunately, they did not catch anything but a sun burn. I have seen a
lot, El Yunque, Caribbean National Rainforest, El Morro and San
Cristobal, 2 gigantic forts in Old San Juan and the west coast.
In EL YUNQUE I saw many brown lizards, about the size of my palm. Also
there were many palm trees, ferns and beautiful flowering plants.
I did not see much wildlife but I saw lots birds and lizards. At night
we heard little frogs called coqui. They are named after the sound they
make.
EL MORRO and SAN CRISTOBAL are 2 forts built in 1678. It took 100 years
to complete. Inside the fort you can see the clothing that they
wore, cannon carriers, swords, cannon balls and tools used for cleaning
the cannons.
In Old San Juan there were a lot of stores, unique homes, cruise ships,
and wild cats. I went to a museum about Ponce de Leon's family.
On the west coast we went to Isabela and went to the beach and saw
little fish and picked up sea shells, and tons of coral. We also
saw many cemeteries where some vary famous Puerto Ricans rested.

Katelyn enjoys the view from one of the many balconies in Viejo San
Juan, Puerto Rico.
